The Trainer Path: What Can I Expect?

Here we provide an example of a possible path to becoming a Radical Honesty Trainer and what to expect, both along the way to and after certification. 

How much money can I expect to spend on my training?

Your training will likely cost you upwards of $20,000 USD, and there is no guarantee that you will become certified as a Trainer or Trainer Candidate. In the example path below, rough estimates are provided. These estimates will vary greatly depending on the type and number of workshops that you attend in a given year. The price of any training, workshop, or online course is subject to change.

How much money can I expect to make as a Trainer?

Radical Honesty Trainers make their income based on their ability to organize workshops and find clients for themselves. There is no guarantee of an income or client base. RHI will post your events on the Radical Honesty site and provide promotion through regular newsletters and social media posts. You are responsible for building your own client base. 

Many current active Trainers have other streams of income and lead workshops or do private coaching on the side. A small number of Trainers have built their lives and businesses around leading workshops as a full-time job and have accomplished this through years of dedication and hard work. The majority of our full-time Trainers make a modest living.

Trainers can:

• Lead Radical Honesty Meetup Groups and Introductions

• Assist with any Radical Honesty Workshops and Retreats

• Create Radical Honesty Teaching Content and Videos

• Use Radical Honesty in Online Content/Marketing/Website

• Create Radical Honesty Social Media Pages and Groups

• Lead Online Workshops and Webinars

• Co-lead Weekend Workshops and Retreats (w/another Trainer or TC)

• Offer Private Coaching as a Radical Honesty Coach/Trainer

• Assist with 8-Day Intensives and Advanced Workshops/Retreats*

*Once you are a Certified Trainer for some time and gain experience leading Weekend Workshops, Retreats, and assisting with 8-Days, our Senior Training body will determine when you are ready to lead 8-Day Intensive Workshops and Advanced Workshops. Leading an 8-Day is a big step and may come after some years of experience.

Example Trainer Path Outline

The following example path suggests a timeline of about 5 years to reach Trainer Certification. In rare circumstances, your path might be shorter. In many cases, it will be longer. And there is no guarantee of certification. Becoming a Radical Honesty Trainer is not a career path in the professional sense, it is a life path that is right for some people and is not right for everyone. We want you to live your life, mess it up, clean it up, and get the practice of Radical Honesty deep into your bones regardless of whether you will become certified or not.

We know that each potential Trainer is different and comes to the Radical Honesty community with different abilities, resources, and skills, as well as varying past experience in other modalities. Your personal Radical Honesty Trainer path may look different from the one provided here. The key is to reach out to us, ask for what you want, get regular feedback, and continue practicing and sharing honestly together. Once again, more important than “ticking these boxes'' is the degree to which you live the practice in your daily life for your own benefit. 

Your personal practice is the foundation. Your ability to teach Radical Honesty to others will flow forth from that foundation of your own personal, embodied practice.

Throughout your Trainer path, we ask you to reach out to RHI to get authorization (before starting a Meetup, leading your first Weekend Workshop, your first retreat, etc.). We do this to ensure that you are getting enough feedback about where you are at in your process and are ready for the next step. This level of communication and transparency facilitates the creation of a vibrant and connected Trainer body that supports us all in becoming powerful teachers of Radical Honesty.

Year 1: Discovering Radical Honesty

• Attend Weekend Workshop(s) or retreat(s)

• Join Get Over Shit and BE Happy - 6-week Guided online course

• Attend an 8-Day Intensive Workshop

• Have completion talks with family, friends, and past relationships

• Develop your own meditation and body awareness practices

Year 2: Deepening Your Personal Practice

• Attend Weekend Workshop(s) or retreat(s)

• Attend 2nd 8-Day Intensive (two 8-Days are required to attend the in-person Trainer’s Training)

• Join the 9-Month Personal Practice online course

• Continue ongoing personal honesty practice and completion talks

• Strengthen meditation and body awareness practices

Year 3: Begin the Trainer Path

• Attend an Advanced Residential Workshop

• Join the Trainer Foundations Year 1 online course (prerequisite to attend in-person Trainer’s Training)

• Start an honesty Practice Group with friends

• Continue ongoing completion talks, meditation practice, body awareness practice.

• Attend an in-person Trainer’s Training (possible TC certification)

Year 4: You’re now a Trainer Candidate?

If Certified as a TC: 

• Join the Trainer Foundations Year 2 online course

• Assist and organize Weekend Workshops with Trainers (min 3 Weekends to be eligible for Trainer certification)

• Lead ongoing Meetup group

• Pay yearly TC dues and attend TC supervision calls

• Continue ongoing completion talks, meditation practice, body awareness practice.

Year 5: Apply for Trainer Certification

• Assist and organize Weekend Workshops with Trainers

• Lead ongoing Meetup group

• Pay yearly TC dues and attend TC supervision calls

• Continue ongoing completion talks, meditation practice, body awareness practice.

• Attend 2nd (or 3rd) in-person Trainer’s Training (possible Trainer certification)

(Total cost ≈ $3300)

Year 6: You’re a Certified Radical Honesty Trainer

• Develop your Radical Honesty workshop/coaching business

• Create your personal website and social media as a Trainer

• Pay yearly Trainer dues and attend monthly Trainer supervision calls 

• Co-lead Weekend Workshops

• Continue ongoing completion talks, meditation practice, body awareness practice

• Optional - attend Trainer’s Training (in a supportive role at discounted rate to continue your training)

Participation in an in-person Trainer’s Training does not guarantee certification as a Radical Honesty Trainer.

Participation in an 8-Day Intensive Workshop is one of the requirements to attend Advanced 8-Day Workshops and Trainer’s Trainings.
